Karen Atkinson Parry is a
textile artist who uses stitching in
conjunction with other media including collage and found materials.
Usually her textile pieces develop during the process of creation. She
dyes her own surfaces and stitching is used to embellish the surface,
creating a textural richness often seen only when the viewer is close
to the work. She often works on several pieces at the same time, which
naturally develops into a series. She loves to handle fabric and
thread; stitching is therapy for her in her hectic day-to-day life.
